Studio for intelligent & interactive systems

We create technology people want to use.

AI agents, interactive web, and mixed reality. Built to be used, not to be demoed.

Demos that impress in a meeting get abandoned after it. We build systems people keep using.

How we work

Four steps, from the first call to the day-to-day.

  1. Brief

A short call to understand the goal, the constraints, and what “done” actually looks like for the people who will use it.

  2. Rapid prototype

We turn the idea into something you can click, try and feel within weeks, so the hard parts (AI, real time, mixed reality) get settled early instead of at the end.

  3. Built for real use

We engineer it to survive contact with real users: tested, fast and maintainable, so the first day in someone’s hands is not the day it breaks.

  4. Launch and after

We put it in front of people and stay close, iterating on what they do rather than on what we assumed.

Who we are

The team behind real AI products and interactive/XR experiences.

We bring founder-led engineering from AI platforms and interactive technology into a specialized studio with one measure of success: people actually using what we build.

SpatialLab · Universidad Cenfotec

Our research arm is a strategic alliance with SpatialLab, the applied R&D lab of Universidad Cenfotec. The lab explores emerging interaction technology; Opal Interactive develops it into products people actually use.

In their words

Clients on working with Opal.

The big initial challenge on Forever Snowland was leading the first prototyping and testing phase, to validate the complex stroke mechanics and the immersive interaction with the Logitech MX Ink stylus. Opal took that challenge on with incredible agility, building an extremely robust working prototype for our first pilot field tests. What I liked most about working with them at this stage was how fast they iterated on testing feedback, and their technical rigor in delivering a completely stable interactive foundation.

Frequently asked questions

What Opal does, how we work, and how to start.

What does Opal Interactive do?

Opal Interactive designs and builds intelligent, interactive systems: AI-powered platforms, MVPs, and interactive and mixed reality systems. We judge the work by whether the people it was built for actually use it.

What kinds of projects do you take on?

Three main types: proofs of concept, AI-powered platforms (LLM and RAG agents wired into your data and workflows), and interactive systems built with real-time 3D, WebGL, and mixed reality.

Where is Opal based and what languages do you work in?

Opal is based in Costa Rica and works with clients worldwide, in English and Spanish.

How fast can you deliver?

We turn an idea into a working prototype within weeks, settling the hard parts (AI, real time, mixed reality) early, then engineer it to survive contact with real users rather than just to reach a launch date.

Is a boutique AI studio a better fit than a large agency or a freelancer?

For an early-stage AI or interactive product, usually yes: our team is senior only, you talk directly with the people building it, and scope stays honest to the question the prototype has to answer. A large agency adds account layers you do not need yet; a solo freelancer typically cannot cover AI, real time and mixed reality in one build.

Do you take AI pilots into production, or just build demos?

Production. We engineer prototypes to survive contact with real users, not just to reach a launch date, and stay on to harden and grow what proves out. The AI-powered platform we built for StartUs is a live example, not a demo.

Have you built for healthcare or other regulated industries?

Yes: HealthSim (mixed reality) and the Humana VR medical training project are both live examples in healthcare. For a regulated workflow, tell us your specific compliance requirements in the brief and we scope around them; we do not claim a blanket certification we have not been audited for.

Can you build AR or VR for a trade show booth or product launch?

Yes: Brissa Nova is a live AR/VR example built for exactly that. Interactive systems are one of our three service lines, built for the browser (WebAR/WebXR) so nothing needs installing at the booth.

Where can I see real projects, not just a pitch?

The Projects page lists delivered work with what each one does: HealthSim mixed reality, Humana VR medical training, Brissa Nova AR/VR, and the StartUs AI-powered platform among them. Open any project to see what shipped.
